The camera utility will now check the camera. You can then run that before you install the next update (2.2, 2.3, etc) in the future. Once you have installed 2.1 you will have an uninstaller app for 2.1 (on the Mac this is in the same folder as the 'Blackmagic Camera Setup' app).
